Art has been my obsession since I was a very young child. I shared this passion with my father who was a watercolor artist and horticulturist. I followed in his footsteps and graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 1980. For twenty years I ran a Landscape Architectural practice in Santa Rosa California and taught drawing and design at the Santa Rosa Junior College. My artistic passions had been put to practical use making landscapes flourish in Sonoma County.
In 2006, soon after the birth of our second set of twins, my husband and I decided to retire and move our family to Truckee. My passion for drawing and painting was re-ignited by the incredible scenery of the Tahoe/Truckee area. The light, colors and textures of the natural landscape invaded my every waking moment so I began to paint.
I am primarily a landscape painter having studied the landscape both natural and manmade most of my life. My media of choice is both acrylics and oils, because they offer different challenges and opportunities. I love them both.
Observing the details of color and light in the landscape can be truly magical. I hope that my work brings happiness and inspiration to all those that see it.
